Subsidy up to 50% for the replacement of air conditioning and refrigerator

Applications for the already announced appliance replacement subsidy program open on Tuesday 21 June.

Without the need for interested parties to provide supporting documents, they will be able to apply for participation in the program to replace old household appliances.

The amount of subsidies ranges from 30% to 50%, they are provided to beneficiaries for the purchase of new energy-intensive electrical appliances. The application platform will be open from June 21 and will close on July 5. iefimerida.gr.

Today, the Government Gazette published a Ministerial Decree along with a guide to the implementation of the program (Εφημερίδα της Κυβέρνησης η Υπουργική Απόφαση με τον Οδηγό εφαρμογής του προγράματος).

The program, as announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas, supports the replacement of air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers, i.e. devices that consume the most electricity. The information system that supports the program platform is designed so that all the necessary data is collected automatically.

All you need is the Taxisnet codes, as well as the electricity meter and mobile phone numbers. Once the application is approved, the citizen will receive electronically on their mobile phone a secret code corresponding to the subsidy to which they are entitled.

The beneficiary will be able to choose a household appliance (at a reduced price) in any store. He will also be required to hand over the old device (in working order) for recycling.

The program can replace up to three electrical appliances (up to 2 air conditioners, refrigerator or freezer) for the main or additional housing, which is privately owned or rented. Entry criteria for the program include income and number of family members. As a result, points are awarded (additional points for single parents and families with disabled children).

An important element of the process is to ensure that the old device, which will be marked with a special QR code, is disposed of under the responsibility of the seller, and that a new device with a high energy class is installed.

The Ministry of Environment and Energy estimates that the program will benefit 200,000 households, with more than 380,000 devices recycled. The average energy savings for each household is estimated at 1,000 kWh per year. This means that a household with an average consumption of up to 5,000 kWh per year can achieve energy savings of up to 25%.
