Social Tourism 2022: Application Platform Open

Today, June 15, at 13:00, the electronic platform of social tourism 2022 was opened for the submission of applications by those who wish to rest for free.

According to preliminary estimates, the program concerns 300,000 beneficiaries and will “work” from August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023. The program budget is 35 million euros, an increase of 5 million euros compared to the program for the period 2021-2022. Applications can be submitted until 23 June 23 at www.gov.gr/ipiresies/ergasia-kai-asphalise/apozemioseis-kai-parokhes/koinonikos-tourismos.

Who are the beneficiaries?

The social tourism program is available to those who had at least 50 days of work in the previous year 2021 or received 50 insurance days from the ΟΑΕΔ special maternity allowance, or received 50 days of unemployment subsidy, or have a combination of all of the above, writes dikaiologitika.gr.

Beneficiaries are also persons registered in the special register of the unemployed with disabilities ΔΥΠΑ on the date of the application deadline.

Besides a person CANNOT become a beneficiarywho previously received a social tourism voucher (last year, program 2021-2022) and received a corresponding benefit from some other body this year (for example, “Tourism for All” of the Ministry of Tourism).

Only beneficiaries with disabilities or beneficiaries who declared a participant with a disability on their application may receive the benefit annually.

Subsidy amounts

This year, the subsidy will be increased and extended to all categories of accommodation (5-12% in hotels and 3-8% in rented rooms) to cover increased living costs.

In addition, the subsidy is expected to increase by 20% for August, the same as last year, in order to increase the participation of tourism companies during this period. The extended discount will be valid all year round for accommodation in northern Evia and Samos.

Beneficiaries may spend up to six nights at a tourism facility of their choice from the DYPA ‘Supplier Register’ after direct consultation with the supplier.

The maximum stay is six nights (with a small surcharge by individuals). On the islands of Kos, Leros, Lesbos, Samos, Chios and Evros prefecture, 10 nights are provided (no surcharge).

As part of the measures to support fire-affected areas, the maximum overnight stay in the municipalities of Istiaia-Edipsos and Mantoudi-Limni-Ag.Anna (Evia) is 12 nights.

In addition to accommodation in tourist sites, ferry tickets are also subsidized. The financial participation of the general category of beneficiaries is 25%, those with many children – 20%. For disabled ferry tickets are provided free of charge.
