A cruise ship passenger was found dead in her cabin on Sunday morning. The 63-year-old woman was found while the ship was anchored off the island of Santorini.
The body of the tourist was taken to a hospital on the island, where doctors could only ascertain her death.
He will then be transported to Piraeus on the mainland, where an autopsy will determine the woman’s cause of death.
The local port authorities are investigating the matter.
Late Sunday evening, Department of Shipping sources ruled out a crime, suggesting the woman’s death was likely due to “pathological causes.”
“We have nothing to report on the death of a 63-year-old woman. There is no indication that there is a secret, any criminal activity. We, who have a signal from the port authorities, there is nothing strange in the death of a woman. Probably for natural reasons.”
The sources added that this is the first time a woman’s death has been confirmed by a cruise ship doctor. The nationality of the woman is not specified.
