Yesterday at the talks of representatives of the EU member states failed to reach an agreement on the issue of a ban on oil from Russia.
According to Bloomberg, Hungary blocked the proposal. At the same time, three countries, given their high dependence on Russian oil, were offered a delay. In addition, their share in the total amount of European imports is not very significant. However, even under such conditions, Hungary was against it, writes Lenta.ru.
Another package sanctions, introduced by the European Union against the Russian Federation, involves a ban on oil imports from Russia for a period of six months. Postponement proposed to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. However, Budapest decided to block the oil ban, and no agreement was reached on the sanctions package.
The discussions will continue in the coming days, writes Bloomberg, referring to the participants in the negotiation process. If an agreement still fails, then, as the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell said earlier, the foreign ministers of the participating countries will deal with the issue.
