USA: "Ministry of Truth" starts work. What is there in Greece?

In the “stronghold of democracy” and this very “freedom of speech” a real Ministry of Truth (Disinformation Governance Board) is being created. It was created as a structural unit of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The speech of the US Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic is published on the website of the embassy. At the presentation of the project, Pyatt said that its funding was provided by the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC). The US Ambassador noted:

This organization will be engaged in the fight against disinformation. Moreover, with the one that is not from the outside (read Russian and Chinese propaganda), but internal, which appears from citizens and organizations in the United States itself. A sort of 5th department of the KGB, but in the “Stronghold of Democracy”.

There is one interesting point in this, even two

First: DHS is a serious organization that has a lot of very well-armed operatives on its balance sheet.

Second: During the hearings in Congress, it was, among other things, about how the new organization will preventively calculate citizens who only intend (!) to spread some nasty disinformation. And accordingly, punish.

Cherry on the cake – it will be headed by a very interesting lady, Nina Yankovic, who describes herself as an expert in disinformation (a fighter against it), a former employee of the Woodrow Wilson Center (that is still a viper).

She managed to work as a consultant in the Biden elections and for the benefit of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, as well as at the National Democratic Institute, which coordinated, among other things, the opposition in Belarus and Russia.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson breaks things down in detail, as usual.

A similar institution is already being created in the European Union. Question about “fighting disinformation” (that is, dissent) was discussed back in 2021, when US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt announced the launch of the DisinfoHacks project to combat disinformation and fake news, which was launched by the State Department.

“We believe that well-informed citizens are the key to the functioning of our democratic institutions. Disinformation has become one of the greatest challenges facing our democracies. I am very proud that we have managed to create a successful GEC program here in Greece.”

Geoffrey Pyatt named the Embassy’s partners in the project: Nikos Panayiota, professor from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, president of the Digital Communication Network Global Hub established at the university; professors from the Athens University of Political and Social Sciences Pantheon Betty Tsacarestu; Vassilisa Tsulisa from the Youth Entrepreneurship Technology NGO in Thessaloniki. Significant support for the project, as conveyed by Greek reporter, provided by the non-profit organizations Found.ation and SocialInnov. The head of the diplomatic mission noted:

“The project launch marks the culmination of many months of planning and coordination by the partners. I have to give them credit. They responded to our call for new approaches to combat disinformation in Greece.”

PS It turned out to be quite simple to create this same Ministry of Truth, it was necessary to take ready-made structures and simply give them power support. To some extent, its prototype existed earlier and is working with might and main in social networks. Do you know how social networks are moderated now? Attentive moderators who quickly recognize objectionable text as “inciting hatred”, ingenious software algorithms and a whole army of network informers, who are only busy complaining about their opponents to the administrations of social networks. Such “voluntary helpers”, who can be even somehow encouraged in the future, not necessarily financially. Here are ready-made mechanisms for creating the Ministry of Truth.
