Monastery of Chrysopigi on Sifnos

The island of Sifnos is the epitome of Cycladic beauty. Picturesque alleys, blue cool waters, golden sand and tamarisk trees make up the landscape of the island, which from the first visit is able to impress even the most demanding travelers.

One of the most beautiful places is the monastery of Chrysopigi on Sifnos, which is definitely worth a visit.

The road to Platis Gialos (Πλατύ Γιαλό) takes you to one of the most beautiful and famous places in the whole world, the sacred rock of Chrysopigi (ιερός βράχος της Χρυσοπηγής).

Here is a whitewashed monastery building with unique architectural structures, founded in 1650. As with most Cycladic monasteries, white dominates from the floor to the impressive bell tower. At the monastery of Chrysopigi on Sifnos, every square inch is taken care of, from the beautiful flower pots that adorn it to the carefully arranged chairs.

Before you enter the main gate of the monastery, a traditional whitewashed stone staircase opens up to your gaze, which seems to “go” into the sea. A short stop is enough to admire the endless blue.

The monastery of Chrysopigi on Sifnos has a large entrance that welcomes the visitor and anticipates the beauty that opens up behind it. Moving deeper into the monastery courtyard, you come across an old well, which now has a decorative character. To the right and left are colorful flower pots. A little further, under a tree, there is a special place, ideal for taking pictures. Two blue traditional chairs and a small table against the backdrop of the blue Aegean Sea and the rocks create a unique setting.

Behind the monastery there is a small courtyard, similar to a platform on the rocks, which is surrounded by the blue of the Aegean Sea. On the left, you have a view of Apokoftos Bay: a beautiful sandy beach, shining in the sun, and crystal clear water, giving a cool. There are also trees on the beach (for those who like to relax in the shade). However, there are other beautiful beaches on Sifnos (10 best beaches in Sifnos), writes perierga.gr.

Whatever your purpose of visiting Sifnos, you will surely remember its impressive sights, sounds and taste of traditional dishes for a long time.
