Two Afghan gangs eliminated in Athens

Arrested in the Greek capital, gang members are accused of murder and extortion. ΕΛΑΣ put an end to the “war” for the “criminal fund” in the center of Athens.

Last Thursday, March 24, in two districts of Athens – Kipseli and Agios Panteleimonas – a large-scale operation was carried out by the forces of the Security Department. During it, 9 members of criminal organizations were arrested, 10 more people appear in the materials of the criminal case.

Those arrested were charged with two murders, five attempted murders, and five cases of extortion. All of them were delivered to the prosecutor’s office of Athens. According to ΕΛΑΣ, two criminal gangs vied for power in the center of the Greek capital.

The ringleaders did not share “spheres of influence” with each other and went so far as to kill each other, with the sole purpose of gaining the upper hand and seizing the reins of power in the center of Athens. The gangs imposed tribute on the owners of the shops located there, regularly receiving various amounts, says cnn.gr. Considerable income came from illegal migration.
