Metro Attico: contract signed for new line 4, extension to Marousi

The contract for the provision of technical consulting services was signed today, March 3, at the office of Attiko Metro with a consortium of contractors, regarding the construction of the new line 4 of the Athens Metro.

Section of metro line 4, section Alsos Weikou – Goody and future expansions, has a budget of €18,922,100 plus VAT. The duration of the construction works is estimated to be 60 months.

The contract will be funded by the operational program “Infrastructure, Transportation, Environment and Sustainable Development” (“υποδομές, μεταφορών, περιβάλλον και αειφόρος ανάπτυξη” εσπα 2014-2020), at the expense of funds εσπα on 2021-2027 and public investment programs, writes dikaiologitika.gr.

It is noted that in accordance with the contract, the consortium of contractors must offer consulting services for the design, construction and commissioning of the new line 4 of the Athens metro, section A “Veikos – Grove Goudi”. And will also take part in the Metro Line 3 extension construction project, section “Agia Marina – Municipal Theatre” and is expected to assist in the planning and development of future metro and tram line extensions in Attica and the Piraeus region.

A consortium of contractors will be involved in all activities (design, auction, construction, testing and commissioning) required within the technical facility of projects under construction by Attiko Metro SA. and new projects to confirm their successful completion. It will also provide customized technical solutions, information and optimization suggestions based on the latest technological developments, design support and management oversight.

At the same time, Attiko Metro SA announces that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, a major expansion program for the Athens Metro is planned, which includes the extension of line 4 to Maroussi, Daphni and Petroupoli, line 2 to Ilion and Glyfada, and the extension of line 1 to Kalithea and the Cultural Center of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The main goal is to further reduce transport problems, improve the quality of the road transport network, the parameters of its reliability, speed, safety against the backdrop of high requirements for aesthetic design.

Investing is critical to improving everyday life, supporting economic growth and creating new jobs, and reducing carbon emissions and air pollution.
