The conversation between Putin and Biden lasted more than an hour

US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a video meeting last night via a special communication channel. Their conversation lasted a little over an hour. The White House message says:

President Biden’s secure-line conversation with Russian President Putin ended at 12:06 pm ET (20:06 Moscow time).

The conversation between the leaders of the two powers, the third since the start of the crisis around Ukraine, began at 11:04 (19:04 Moscow time), Washington said. It was preceded by contacts at the level of the heads of foreign policy and defense departments, which took place on the same day, on Saturday, February 12.

Before talking to Biden, the Russian president spoke with the presidents of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and France, Emmanuel Macron.

Revealing the details of the conversation between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, writes RIA NewsThe White House reported that Biden and Putin discussed the tense situation on the Ukraine-Russia border:

“President Joe Biden today held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the escalation of military tensions on the borders of Ukraine.”

Recently, Western countries have been constantly declaring an increase in “aggressive actions” by the Russian Federation near the borders of Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly denied the accusations, saying that it does not threaten anyone and does not intend to attack anyone. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that statements about “Russian aggression” and the possibility of helping Kiev defend itself against it are “both ridiculous and dangerous.”

The Kremlin revealed the details of the conversation between Putin and Biden – the latter, as expected, mentioned anti-Russian sanctions. Russian leader’s aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters:

“The conversation lasted a little over an hour … Today’s conversation took place in an atmosphere of unprecedented hysteria by American officials about Russia’s allegedly imminent invasion of Ukraine. Everyone knows this. Joseph Biden, as expected, in the context of the tense situation around Ukraine, mentioned possible anti-Russian sanctions, but did not this issue was emphasized during a fairly lengthy conversation with the Russian leader.The American side requested a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, referring to the likelihood of Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine.”
