Tram to / from Piraeus launched on December 15

Commercial operation of the tram line began today, Wednesday 15 December 2021, the management company STASY said on Tuesday.

The line initially includes the operation of 11 new stops: Karaiskaki Stadium, Asia Minor, Lambraki, Evangelistria, Deligianni Square, City Hall, Agia Triada, Hippodamey Square, 34th District of Peziku, Androutsu, Omiridou Skilizi.

A 12th stop called “Akti Poseidonos” is expected to be added shortly, which will become the new terminal on line 7.

The tram network now consists of 2 new lines: line 6 (PIKR – SYN) Pikrodafni – Syntagma and line 7 (VOULA – PIR) Asklipieio Voulas – Akti Poseidonos (Piraeus).

The response points of both lines are Pikrodafni and Edem stations with an average waiting time of 4.5 minutes.

At the same time, the tram fleet is being replenished with 25 modern trains, which contributes to the further improvement of the presented transport project in its network.

When two new lines work, fixed time distances are formed in the network.

In particular, the frequency of service is set from 07:00 to 19:00 9 minutes on weekdays and 12 minutes on weekends. The duration of the route is 33 for Syntagma-Picrodafni, 35 for Picrodafni-Syntagma, 57 for the Asklipeio Voulas-Agia Triada route and 51 for the Agia Triada-Asklipeio-Voulas route.
