"With a knife at my throat": citizens over 60 years old “run” to sign up for the vaccine

The € 100 fine for every month they remain unvaccinated forces the elderly to make a difficult decision and … get vaccinated.

In the midst of backlash from the unvaccinated, anti-axers and the opposition in general to the “punitive” and clearly predatory measure of compulsory vaccination of all citizens over 60, under the threat of a € 100 fine in case of refusal, vaccination rates rose sharply.

According to the relevant information, after the speech of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with announcing fines for the unvaccinated within a few hours, citizens over 60 who had not been vaccinated made about 6,000 visits to vaccination centers to receive the first dose.

And this despite the fact that, compared with the data for the last ten days, the daily average number of prescriptions for the 1st dose of vaccine for citizens of these ages was 2600. Now their number has almost tripled.

It is worth noting that this unprecedented measure (imposition of a fine) affects 520 thousand unvaccinated citizens over 60 years old, people who are mainly low-income pensioners, from whom they now intend to “strip three skins.”

A specific amount of EUR 100 per month will be levied directly by AADE and directed to a special funding fund for hospitals. As also announced today, employees over 60 who have not been vaccinated must complete two rapid tests per week at their own expense.

In practice, this means that unvaccinated workers over the age of 60 will have to spend each month:

For 8 express tests (cost from 5 euros to 10 euros each) the amount is 40 or 80 euros. For an administrative fine for non-vaccination – 100 euros.

That is, every unvaccinated employee over 60 years old will have to pay from 140 to 180 euros monthly. For 8 express tests per year, unvaccinated workers will pay from 480 to 960 euros. Combined with the administrative fine, the truly unbearable costs that older workers who have not received the coronavirus vaccine must pay range from € 1,680 to € 2,160 per year!
