Who is to blame for the tragedy with the deceased employee ΗΣΑΠ

A private contractor will be held liable for the consequences of an accident resulting in the death of one ΗΣΑΠ employee and two other injuries, ΣΤΑΣΥ said.

The tragedy that happened yesterday morning took the life of 41-year-old STASY master Petros Yamalis (Πέτρο Γιάμαλη). About the tragic death of his employee, during the planned work, with regret reported by ΗΣΑΠ… Two more workers were injured. A grinder driver, an employee of a contract company, is being treated in the hospital for serious injuries.

The accident occurred during the grinding work on the 1st metro line. In the line of duty, a master was fatally injured and two more employees received minor injuries, reports ΑΠΕ ΜΠΕ.

According to initial information, the damage occurred in a machine that is used for specialized grinding work. This led to the fatal injury of the 41-year-old Greek master.

STASY finds out why the spare braking systems did not work and blames the tragic accident on the project’s private contractor. It is noted that on a special grinding vehicle, which started from Kifissia, the brakes failed, and it began to move uncontrollably at a speed of up to 60 km / h in the direction of Piraeus. No one could have predicted what would happen if it reached the terminal station. It was decided to stop the movement with the help of a train located between the stations “Attiki” and “Agios Nikolaos”.

V new clarifications Stable Transportations SA states that the contractor is the German company Schweerbau GMBH & CO KG. She owns the grinding machine, and her contractual obligations include maintenance and regular inspections. STASY clarifies the circumstances of the tragedy:

“A total of 5 people worked on the grinding machine, 2 from STASY and 3 from a German company implementing the project. The deceased is an employee of STASY, a representative of the contractor is being treated for serious injuries, and the other three are healthy. STASY employees have moved the train parked at the station.” Attiki “to cause a controlled collision outside the station, with the least possible impact. The grinding project was carried out by a certified company following an international tender. The company’s contractual obligations include maintenance and control of the equipment. The tragic event is related to the contractor’s equipment.”

The investigation is being carried out by the competent authorities in cooperation with STA.SY.
