The four migrants were run over by a passenger train in southwestern France. Three died, the fourth was hospitalized in critical condition.
All of them fell asleep on the railway tracks and did not hear the approach of the train, Ouest France reports today. The incident took place early in the morning near Saint-Jean-de-Luz station (Atlantic Pyrenees). The victims have not been identified, but two of them are from Algeria. The 28-year-old victim, taken to the hospital, received severe injuries to the abdomen and limbs, and a fracture of the pelvis. Eneko Aldana, mayor of Sibur, says:
“They were lying on the side or on the tracks. They saw that a train was coming and tried to escape, but it was too late.”
The traffic was suspended for several hours, there were no injuries among the passengers on the train. But many of them are in shock and need the help of a psychologist.
Earlier, our publication wrote that refusal to obtain refugee status received a 38-year-old Sudanese. The response was immediate – the man stabbed the 46-year-old head of the Po asylum reception center several times. According to APE-MPE, the victim later died of his wounds, and the attacker was arrested.
