Criminals turned supermarket theft into a profession

At least 20 supermarket thefts were perpetrated by members of the spiral operating in Achaia, Pyrgos, Kalamata, Phocis, Viotia, Phthiotida, Arta and Larissa.

The police arrested a woman who was a member of a criminal group. There are three more people on the wanted list, a man and two women, against whom a criminal case has been initiated for creating a gang and committing thefts.

In particular, according to the police, the detainee went into a supermarket and, together with her accomplice, brought out groceries worth 100 euros. However, the man was noticed by the store manager. But when he approached the criminal, he threw the stolen things and disappeared, and the woman was detained.

According to an investigation by the Messolonghi Police Department, members of the criminal group have committed a total of 20 thefts in the supermarkets of Achaia, Pyrgos, Kalamata, Phocis, Boeotia, Phthiotida, Arta and Larisa in the past 30 days, stolen goods totaling about 14,500 euros. …

As for the actions of the criminals, according to the police, the thieves went to stores as buyers, first put food in baskets, and then in the “blind / blind zone”, where the surveillance cameras did not cover the “nook”, put the stolen goods into their bags. At the same time, in order not to be noticed by employees, they went through the cash desks, paying for low-value products.

The arrested woman was brought before the prosecutor of the first instance court of Messolonga. The investigation is ongoing.
