The Chinese are accused of a possible secret deal with the World Health Organization to investigate the origins of the coronavirus.
The conspiracy, writes The Sunday Times, concerns a possible leak of the virus from a laboratory in China. It became possible against the backdrop of Beijing’s longstanding influence on WHO.
The sources cited by the journalists of the publication claim the existence of an agreement when sending the organization’s experts to Wuhan. They had to focus solely on finding the natural causes of the coronavirus, excluding a laboratory leak.
Reporters for The Sunday Times talk about Beijing’s growing influence on WHO since the first SARS-CoV outbreak in 2002-2003, which then caused severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). As now, China was accused then of not providing the necessary information, slowness, and ineffectiveness in the fight against the epidemic.
Beijing’s growing accusations have sharply increased after US President Joe Biden’s speech on the matter. He expressed doubts about China’s involvement in the emergence of the coronavirus and instructed intelligence to figure it out, giving it 3 months.
