Responsibility for the fires raging in Turkey, which led to human casualties, was claimed by the recognized terrorist organization Children of Fire, Interfax reports with reference to the Turkish edition of Yeni Şafak.
The organization is associated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is recognized as terrorist not only in Turkey, but also in the United States and some EU countries. The militants announced their responsibility for the arson on social networks. According to Children of Fire, “the Turkish regime does not understand another language,” so they decided to “bring it to its knees with fire.”
In 32 provinces of Turkey, fires were recorded, emergency services were able to take control 107 forest fires. 6 people were killed. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged earlier on Friday to wait for the results of the investigation into the causes of the fire in the country at once several wildfires.
Erdogan wrote on the Telegram channel: “We will continue to take all necessary steps to heal the wounds of our nation and repair the damage.” He declared a disaster zone in the provinces of Antalya, Adana, Mersin, Mugla and Osmaniye affected by fires. The most difficult situation has developed in the resort area of the Mediterranean coast of the country. Hotel guests and residents of settlements were evacuated. Strong winds interfere with the fight against fires. The reasons for the large-scale fire have not yet been established, but the authorities do not rule out arson, working out other versions as well.
