The Ukrainian security service exposed a criminal group that was selling babies to foreign buyers. For each baby, the criminals asked for $ 60,000, the SBU press service informs.
According to the Strana.ua edition, the sale scheme was established by residents of the Kharkov and Kiev regions, the criminal group included, among other things, the heads of one of the Kiev centers of reproductive medicine. All actions were carried out within the framework of the surrogacy program. Each baby was worth 60 thousand dollars.
The malefactors helped foreigners to formalize a fictitious marriage with Ukrainian women. Subsequently, “their” doctors officially confirmed the infertility of the spouse, so that there was a basis for the use of reproductive technologies. This was followed by a search for a candidate for surrogacy. After the birth of the baby, the fictitious marriage was broken up and the foreigner formally received the right to take the child abroad.
The criminals were informed of suspicion under two articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. Currently, investigative and operational actions are being carried out, the involvement of the participants in the criminal scheme in human trafficking is being established.
