A powerful explosion at the Bayer AG chemical and pharmaceutical plant in Leverkusen (Germany) occurred today. The authorities have declared the maximum degree of danger, according to Reuters.
Residents are advised to tightly close all windows and doors, and not leave the house. Highways closest to the explosion site are closed. Several people were injured in the incident. A spokesman for Currenta, an industrial park for the chemical industry, says the explosion occurred in a waste incinerator. Although, according to other sources, the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
