The rise in the incidence of coronavirus in Turkey is worrying the authorities. Professor Mehmet Ceyhan, head of the country’s Association for Infectious Diseases, urged on his Twitter to tighten sanitary requirements for visitors from Russia.

Fahrettin Koca, Turkey’s health minister, reported 12,381 new cases on Saturday. Since May 12, when the third wave of coronavirus hit the country, this is the highest rate. Some media outlets were quick to report that Ankara would close the borders, but the Turkish Embassy in the Russian Federation denied the information.
