The four main "anti-inflammatory" food product

A well-functioning immune system is essential for everyone’s health. The experts named products that have a positive effect on it, increase the protection of human health, as well as what inflammation is and how to deal with it.

The immune system reacts to inflammation in the human body in a special way, otherwise the wounds on the body would not heal.

However, if it is chronic and generalized, inflammation is dangerous and adversely affects our health. Increased stress levels and poor nutrition are two factors that contribute to chronic inflammation, which disrupts the functioning of every organ and system, increasing the risk of skin problems (acne), allergies, gastrointestinal problems, neurological disorders, autoimmune diseases, and more.

A key step in preventing or treating inflammation is switching to a healthy diet. What foods do experts recommend to use in food to boost immunity?

1. Olive oil.

Olive oil is rich in polyphenols, natural chemical compounds with strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Most of them are found in quality extra virgin olive oil, which is suitable both for consumption raw, such as in salads, and for cooking.

2. Herbs and spices.

In the “natural pharmacy” there are dozens of types of herbs and spices containing unique natural compounds that strengthen health. We can use herbs and spices not only to add flavor to a drink or dish, but also to replace sugar and salt in our diet. Among the most potent and available are oregano (“rigani”), as well as turmeric, cinnamon and ginger.

3. Onions and garlic belong to the category of short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides (scFOS), which are not completely degraded in the gastrointestinal tract, and therefore are food for the “good” intestinal bacteria. In this way, they strengthen the immune system and reduce the level of inflammation in the body as a whole.

4. Dark chocolate

Chocolate with a cocoa content of 70% or more is the healthiest snack and dessert you can choose from. It has a beneficial effect on the circulatory system, lowers blood pressure, and also helps the body regulate blood sugar levels.
