The budding Indiana Jones follower was caught by the authorities in Agrinio. Law enforcement officers found a black archaeologist with a shovel in his hand, excavating in a forbidden place.
A 45-year-old local resident was arrested by Agrinio police in the Trichonida area while he was excavating at a place he discovered with a metal detector (which he had illegally acquired).
The black archaeologist had already managed to find some metal objects of the Hellenistic period with hieroglyphs, which were confiscated and transferred to the Office for the Protection of Antiquities of Etholoacarnania for dating and evaluation.
A case was opened against the detainee and he was brought before the prosecutor of the Agrinio Court of First Instance. The citizen was prosecuted for violating the law on the protection of antiquities.
