A complicated “equation” will have to be solved by the Greek Ministry of Education, together with epidemiologists, about the date of the opening of schools, that is, the return of primary school and gymnasium students to their desks.
According to the Minister of Education Niki Kerameos, after the Easter holidays, the government intends to reopen all levels of education, the most likely date is Monday, May 10.
“The opening of the lyceums was successful, we are moving forward step by step. E-learning for schoolchildren of other ages is proceeding normally, ”the minister said in an interview with the Open channel.
At the same time, it was emphasized that “the possibility of extending the academic year until June is open, although this will be decided later.” As for the final exams, and whether they will be canceled (or postponed), the Minister of Education stressed that she does not yet have an answer to this question. However, a decision will be made shortly.
Studies are hampered by epidemiological data
The primary and secondary schools were originally scheduled to open mid-April. However, epidemiological data did not allow this to be carried out, and the school was opened only for high school students – lyceums.
However, a new proposal from the Ministry of Education sets a new date – Monday, May 10th.
