American epidemiologist Michael Osterholm, a professor at the University of Minnesota, says the country is facing a fourth wave of coronavirus, Fox News reported following an interview with the scientist.
According to the epidemiologist, the only positive news is that the coronavirus vaccines currently in use are effective against the new British strain.
At the moment (April 3), every fifth resident of the country has already received a full dose of the vaccine – two necessary if the drugs Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech were used, or a one-time dose of Johnson & Johnson. Some citizens are in no hurry to get vaccinated because they do not believe in the effectiveness of vaccination.
And the deadly virus continues to harvest victims. According to the latest data, 554,000 deaths were recorded in the United States; during the pandemic, more than 30.7 million people were infected with COVID-19.
