UAE: “they don’t go to someone else’s monastery with their own charter”

A group of models, including 8 Russian women, were detained in Dubai for a “depraved photo session”, RIA Novosti reported.

Shooting a video on the balcony of a Dubai skyscraper in the resort area of the UAE capital threatens its participants with imprisonment. The models were shot naked, which attracted the attention of witnesses filming the action on their phones. The leaked video prompted a reaction from the Dubai police. They have already made a corresponding statement:

“This unacceptable behavior does not reflect the values and ethics of Emirati society.”

Militiamen detained 40 people associated with the shooting. Among them, as the Russian Consulate General told RIA Novosti, 8 girls from Russia:

They turned to the Consulate General for help, but it is difficult to do anything here, the article is quite serious – for participating in lecherous actions. The girls face up to six months in prison and a fine of 5 thousand dirhams (about 105 thousand rubles) for each. The filming organizer faces up to one and a half years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand dirhams (more than 1 million rubles).

The representative of the Consulate General of Russia does not exclude the possibility of pardoning the detainees; the onset of the holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims gives hope. An official request from the consulate has been sent to the Dubai police to obtain accurate data on the detained Russian citizens. It is clarified that not all the girls had documents with them.

The British media, meanwhile, reported that the customer for the scandalous video with naked participants was an Israeli site, an analogue of the American “adult” resource. According to some reports, not only Russians participated in the filming, but also girls from Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine. The Russian diplomatic mission is expecting accurate information in the late afternoon. Criminal cases have already been initiated against all the detainees, reports the Daily Mail. The materials were transferred to the prosecutor’s office.

In an Islamic country, public disorder involving nudity and “indecent behavior” is punishable by up to 6 months in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams (about 1,000 euros), according to Sky News. Sharing porn materials can lead to imprisonment and heavy fines, in which case the law takes into account Sharia law.
