"Tez Tour Greece" Complains about Greek hotel prices in 2025

Managing Director of Tez Tour Greece Dimitris Charitidis reported an increase in prices for holidays in Greek hotels in 2025.

He notes that the cost of vacations in Greek hotels is high, special offers with discounts appear only occasionally, and next year the cost of accommodation will increase by another 8-15%. Mr. Haritidis reported this in a conversation with TASS:

“Hotel prices in Greece are quite high now, they haven't fallen, although some hotels are making some special offers. Hotels on the Greek islands are breaking all records for tourist influx. Heraklion and Chania [на Крите]the islands of Rhodes and Kos, the Ionian Islands and Athens – growth everywhere, although there are complaints that tourists are not spending as much money as they would like.”

Haritidis sees one of the reasons in the “all inclusive” system, quotes GreekReporter:

“All inclusive is still a problem because people stay in hotels and don't go out [за их пределы в рестораны и не тратят там дополнительные деньги]. But Greece is still breaking records for influx and cash receipts. However, the number of people who choose to rent a house or apartment through Airbnb is also growing. Despite the records, hotels are still not always well occupied, especially in August.”

He talks about how things are gradually changing in the tourism industry:

“In general, they are now saying that a new trend is emerging in the world: foreign tourists prefer to travel during the season when the air temperatures are not so high, and hotel prices are much lower than in July and August. This August, some even popular hotels offered a discount. But since they raised their prices quite a lot last year, this discount does not significantly change the budget, so they will still be in profit. Hotels raise prices by 8% to 15% [в 2025 году]. In my opinion, this is a fairly significant price increase, so let's see what the demand will be next year. Because now many hotels say – it is better to raise prices now, and then make special offers and adjust the occupancy, than to initially set low prices.”

According to the tour operator, many tourists complain that holidays in Turkey have become much more expensive:

“They say that many good hotels in Turkey are almost more expensive than Greek ones. Spain has always been expensive, Italy is expensive, Croatia is also unreasonably expensive. Although accommodation in Greek hotels has increased in price, Greece still remains quite affordable among quality destinations.”

Charitidis does not see the extreme hot weather that has been prevalent in Greece this summer as a problem for tourists:

“Despite the heat, the sea did not overheat. The water on the islands is very pleasant and cools, and, for example, in Cyprus and in Turkish Antalya there is no such thing. The Greek sea is normal, not so hot. In principle, Western tour operators have flights to Greece until the beginning of November. The last planes from the Baltics leave on October 30, there is a season until this date, and the Germans and everyone else fly until the first half of November. And then there is nowhere to extend. Even the staff does not want to work much, in some hotels the workers do not want to extend the work for another month, they say that they are tired. So this is a problem.”
