Italy: 11-year-old girl dies from Delta mutation of coronavirus

Infected with the delta strain, an 11-year-old Italian woman from Palermo died of complications from the coronavirus. The girl suffered from a rare metabolic disorder.

The baby was infected by her older 16-year-old sister, who recently returned from Spain. She was admitted to one of the Palermo hospitals – Di Cristina. However, the weakened child’s body was unable to cope with the serious problems caused by the delta mutation of the virus, it is reported Italian media

The governor of Sicily, Nelo Musumechi, said that the whole family, except for the deceased girl, was vaccinated. However, the information is not true. The mother of the unhappy woman said that all family members are not against vaccinations, but did not have time to sign up for vaccinations. The whole family tested positive for coronavirus.

Desiree Farinella, Health Assistant at Di Cristina Hospital, says:

“Children and weak subjects will be protected only when herd immunity develops. We remind you that all children from 12 years of age and older can be vaccinated both in our children’s institution and in vaccination centers. In the case of weak children who cannot be vaccinated, families should be vaccinated to protect them. ”
