Health Minister Vasilis Kikkilias announced on Wednesday that 5 million Greek citizens are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. According to official figures, on Wednesday morning, the number of fully vaccinated in the country amounted to 5,044,409 people.

“Today we have exceeded the target of 5 million fully vaccinated citizens. We continue to move forward, ”said Minister Kikkilias in his post on the social network.

According to the official website emvolio.gov.gr, the number of people receiving the first dose and waiting for the second is about 640,000.

The government is trying to increase the rate of vaccination in order to achieve herd immunity at the level of 75-80% by the end of August.

Since the coming month is the country’s traditional summer break, the government is reportedly considering a “no appointment vaccination” in August.
