Extreme weather events experienced in Chania, Crete, have caused damage.
In Apokoronas, in the village of Ramni, something unprecedented happened: at about 5 o’clock in the morning, lightning struck a house and literally broke through part of its roof.
Fortunately, the elderly couple living there went down to the first floor at that time, the flashnews website reports. Therefore, human casualties were avoided. As firefighters who arrived at the scene found out, except for the hole in the roof of the house, all electrical appliances burned out, but the fire did not spread.
According to the mayor of Apokoronov, Charalambos Koukianakis, who was contacted by Flashnews.gr, no other damage was found in the mansion. There were also no problems with electricity or telecommunications network in the area.
