Data on control in 2023 throughout the territory for compliance with anti-tobacco legislation were announced by the National Transparency Authority “Εθνική Αρχή Διαφάνειας”.
In collaboration with ΕΛΑΣ From January 1 to December 31, 2023, municipal police officers conducted inspections of 4,287 private enterprises and state legal entities (hospitals, municipalities, DOU) And 413 fines were imposed totaling €383,100. 317 fines amounting to 373,500 euros were imposed on managers and representatives of controlled entities, and 96 fines for individuals in the amount of 9,600 euros.
It is significant that as a result of on-site inspections of the regional EAD service in the divisions of Corinth, Argolis, Laconia, Messinia and Arcadia, the following was found in government services and hospitals:
- In two hospitals – the lack of a plan to prevent smoking and violation of anti-tobacco legislation, smoking in prohibited places.
- In four municipalities – lack of a plan to prevent smoking and violation of anti-tobacco legislation, smoking in prohibited places
- A smoker has been identified in the municipality who is responsible for implementing the smoking prevention plan.
- In two regional divisions – the lack of a plan to prevent smoking and violation of anti-tobacco legislation.
- In DOU – lack of a plan to prevent smoking and violation of anti-tobacco legislation.
The EAD demanded that those responsible be brought to disciplinary action.
