A grim discovery was made in Istiaia (Evia) while digging a trench for the city’s sewerage networks – two human skeletons.
Excavator crews were working on an infrastructure improvement project in Istiaia and discovered human remains on two occasions at different stages of the work.
At first, writes newsbeast.gr, next to the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Istiaia, they discovered an intact skeleton. The second one was found in the same place a little later.
It is still not clear whether these remains belong to archaeological finds, or whether they are the skeletons of people who died in a later historical period, for example, during the Second World War or in the years after it.
