The Athenians looked into the sky several times early Thursday morning due to the loud noise of fighter jets flying at low altitude over the Greek capital from north to south and back.
Many have wondered what is going on and what is the purpose of the military air flights over the city center as the National Day exercise on October 28 is almost 2 months away.

Does anyone know about military aircraft, why do they fly over us so often today? Should we be afraid of something???

Warplanes over Athens a few minutes ago.
Μάλλον είναι αμερικανικά #F35 του ΝΑΤΟ που κάνουν πρόβες πάνω από την Αθήνα. pic.twitter.com/9KsTqFxQoX

Probably American #F35 NATO planes are rehearsing over Athens.
The mystery was solved when the state news agency “Amna” reported that three US Air Force F-35s will fly over Athens from 15:00 to 15:30 as part of the annual Athens Flying Week 2023 air show. Some complained that the noise frightened their dogs, while others complained that the pilots did not observe the official siesta time.
Γιατί βολτάρουν τα f35 πάνω από την Αθήνα;
Τί γιορτάζουμε;

Why are F35s flying over Athens? What are we celebrating? (They scared Laura…)

Doesn’t quiet time apply to the military?
The 5th generation F-35 aircraft will be photographed by the Aviation PhotoCrew crew over the Greek capital and then land at Tanagra Air Base. American F-35 aircraft will arrive in Greece for the first time to participate in the Athens Flying Week – the international air show in Tanagra. A demonstration team of F-35A Lightning II piloted by Christine “BEO” Wolfe will also arrive in Athens, promising a unique show for the Greek and international audience “Athens Flying Week 2023”.
We have dealt with the planes, now it remains to deal with the helicopters and drones that patrol over the center of Athens every night…
