Temporarily detained after a “marathon” of testimony that lasted almost 7 hours, 53-year-old police officer and former president of the Chania Police Association accused of extortion, bribery and dereliction of duty.
Thus, after giving evidence, he proceeded to the prison without making any statements to the media. Earlier, during his delivery to court, security measures were strengthened.
A day earlier, his son, accused of complicity in extortion, was released on condition of a ban on leaving the country. Both officers have been suspended, and the police union of Chania has removed the eldest from the presidency.
