Auditors of the Independent State Revenue Administration (ΑΑΔΕ), using special software for automated control over the accumulation of assets (ΕΛΑΕΠΠ), will receive detailed data and information about those being verified from bank accounts, safes and electronic wallets.
At the same time, the tax authorities instructed to look for undeclared income from real estate, from hotel and short-term rentals (Airbnb, Booking, etc.), from retroactive wages, as well as income from abroad.
Cross-reference checks will cover the following:
- Verifying legal compliance by property owners operating in the short-term rental industry.
- Cross-check hotel reported gross revenue with Booking platform revenue for tax year 2022. The goal is to determine whether the declared amounts correspond to reality and whether taxes are paid to the Greek state based on these data.
- Check the availability of real estate registration numbers in ongoing transactions.
- Identification of suspicious transactions through the development of statistical methodology.
- Cross-checking taxable products to identify taxpayers who filed zero VAT returns while doing business.
- Cross checks of bank deposits.
- Cross-check incoming information from foreign authorities through the system of international administrative cooperation (DAC1) on salaries, pensions, administrative fees and real estate income with submitted income declarations.
- Cross-check taxpayer compliance when filing additional remuneration (retroactive) returns.
