Private boats rescued 20 people from the beach of Skilos on the island of Kythnos due to a fire that broke out on the afternoon of Monday 21/8.
Coast Guard boats, three fishing boats, and a tugboat from the port of Lavrio are immediately ready to provide assistance – if necessary.
According to the fire brigade, a patch of dry grass caught fire in the immediate vicinity of the hotel complex, while strong winds blow on the island.
A fire truck is on the scene with three firefighters stationed on the island, and the municipal authorities have been informed of the provision of assistance with boats.
A message was sent by telephone to 112 residents of the area calling for them to evacuate in the direction of Dryopida.
