Minsk demands compensation

Minsk stated that it has the right to compensation for losses incurred during the forced emergency landing of a Ryanair aircraft in Belarus.

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko announced the claims. In an interview with the national TV channel Belarus 1, Golovchenko announced his intention to file a lawsuit and defend the right to compensation for losses:

We spoke at the meeting of the ICAO Council, expressed our position, but ICAO has not yet launched an investigation. I was informed that the commission has not yet been formed.

The Prime Minister announced Minsk’s interest in a comprehensive and impartial international investigation:

We are confident that we are right and are ready to defend our interests in court. I believe we will be able to obtain compensation for all the damage caused to us.
