Triathlete from Chania (Crete) Kostas Varouhakis once again sent a message of support to people with disabilities.
The athlete started yesterday morning from the municipal stadium of Kissamos, covered a circuit of 162 kilometers and finished shortly before 11 a.m. in the company of Gerasimos, a disabled child sitting in a wheelchair. “Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Today we are all here to send a message of support to our fellow citizens with disabilities. They have the right to live with equal rights and opportunities,” Kostas Varouhakis said.
In recent years, the athlete has developed a special support program for a specialized school (for people with disabilities) located in his hometown of Kissamos. In this context, he swam 25 kilometers from Balos to Kissamos, then cycled from Sitia to Kissamos in 10 days, and completed a run with Gerasimos in a wheelchair, overcoming the Kissamos-Chania route.
The race with a total distance of 1130 kilometers included 900 kilometers of cycling, 211 kilometers of running and 19 kilometers of swimming.
