The niece of U.S.-based Islamic imam Fethullah Gülen, Sumey Gülen, is among five terrorist suspects arrested shortly before crossing the border into Evros, according to a statement by the Turkish military.
According to a tweet from the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, Turkish border guards have arrested 10 people who tried to illegally cross the Greek border.
“The investigation revealed that five of those arrested were members of the terrorist organization FETO,” the Gulenist group said in a statement. “One of the five was Sumiye Gulen, the niece of terrorist leader Fethullah Guki.”
Fethullah Gülen is wanted in Turkey by the government for his involvement in the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016.
