Humanitarian aid and support to Athens – victims of the war in Ukraine

The municipalities of Attica express solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine, there is a big mobilization in their support – food and medicine are collected, issues of accommodation of refugees are being discussed.

Most municipalities cooperate with the Greek Red Cross (Ελληνικό Ερυθρό Σταυρό), “Doctors of the World” (“Γιατρούς του Κόσμου”), the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens. They started collecting humanitarian aid, which will continue next week.

Municipalities collect durable products, basic necessities and hygiene items, baby food and diapers, blankets and sleeping bags, and pharmaceuticals. They ask everyone who brings things to be in good condition. Unprecedented solidarity actions take place at the following points:

Municipality of Agia Varvara: at A’KAPI ((Καλαντζάκου 7)) and at the Friendship and Solidarity Center (Ηρακλείου 20), from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 14:00.

Municipality of Agia Paraskevi: in the Municipal Council Hall at City Hall, today from 09:00 to 14:00 and Tuesday 8 March from 09:00 to 15:00.

Municipality of Agios Dimitrios in cooperation with “Doctors of the World”, daily at the City Hall from 08:00 to 20:00 (weekends from 12:00 to 20:00).

Municipality of Egaleo in cooperation with the Greek Red Cross, at the City Hall on Tuesday 8 March, from 08:00 to 20:00.

Municipality of Marusi at City Hall, Tuesday 8 March, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vuliagmeni continues today, Saturday, at the City Hall, from 10:00 to 20:00.

Municipality of Vrilissia in the Public Organization for Protection and Solidarity Κοινωνικό Οργανισμό Προστασίας & Αλληλεγγύης (λ. Πεντέλης 62), daily from 08:00 to 18:00.

Municipality of Glyfada at City Hall, Tuesday 8 March, from 09:00 to 20:00.

Municipality of Dionysos after consultation with the Greek Red Cross, on the first floor of the building at οδού Κοιμήσεως Θεοτόκου 26-28 in Agios Stefanos (Κ.Α.Π.Η), from 09:00 to 12:00.

– Municipality of Elefsina at the Community Center Κέντρο Κοινότητας (Εθνικής Αντιστάσεως & Ελευθερίου Βενιζέλου), from Tuesday 8 March to 10 March, from 01:00 AM to Thursday 08:00 AM

– Elliniko-Argyroupolis Municipality at the Mikis Theodorakis Cultural Center on Tuesday 8 March from 09:00 to 20:00.

The municipality of Zografou, the sister city of the Ukrainian city of Sartana, located in the Donetsk region, conducted the collection with great success in the previous two days (March 2-3).

The municipality of Ilioupolis, in agreement with the Embassy of Ukraine, continues to work today Saturday and tomorrow Sunday at the entrance to the city hall from 09:00 to 19:00.

Municipality of Heraklion at City Hall, Tuesday, March 8, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Municipality of Kallithea in cooperation with the Hellenic Red Cross at City Hall: March 8, 10, 15 and 17 from 12:00 to 15:00.

Municipality of Kifissia: Γ’ ΚΑΠΗ of Kifissia (Αγραύλης και Κηφισού), on Tuesday 8 March from 10:00 to 18:00.

The municipality of Metamorfosi at the social pharmacy (Κορίνθου 21) will repeat the collection tomorrow, Sunday, from 08:00 to 11:00.

Moskhato-Tavros municipality will complete the share today, on Saturday, in the cultural center of Moskhatto (κωνστανοινουπόλεως σολωμού) and in παλαιό δημαρχείο ταύρου (πειραιώς επταλόφου) from 08:00 to 20:00.

Municipality of Nea Ionia at City Hall on Tuesday 8 March, from 10:00 to 18:00.

The municipality of Nea Smyrni collects sanitary materials and durable products at the City Hall on Tuesday 8 March, from 10:00 to 18:00, only sanitary materials at municipal polyclinics (Αρτάκης 76) 9, 10,11 March from 08:00 to 14:00 and only food in Κοινωνικό Παντοπωλείο (Αρτάκης 8) on the same days and hours.

Municipality of Nea Philadelphia-Neos Chalcedon, in cooperation with the Greek Red Cross, at Α’ ΚΠΑΗ (λ. Δεκελείας 154) until Friday 11 March, from 09:00 to 13:30.

The municipality of Paleo Faliro, in cooperation with the Greek Red Cross at the City Hall, will continue to work today, Saturday, from 10:00 to 15:00.

Municipality of Pallini today Saturday and tomorrow Sunday at social facilities (Έντισον 3) from 09:30 to 16:00.

Municipality of Papago Cholargos at City Hall, Tuesday 8 March, from 10:00 to 18:00.

The municipality of Penteli, in cooperation with the Greek Red Cross in the City Hall, in Δ.Κ. Νέας Πεντέλης (Αγίας Παρασκευής 22), στο Δ.Κ. Πεντέλης (Ηγουμένου Μακρυγιάννη), στο Κοινωνικό Κέντρο Μελισσίων (Σκιάθου 5 & Μπακογιάννη) και στο Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο Μελισσίων (17ης Νοεμβρίου 10) Pancake from Monday to Saturday 7 March 12-March, 09:00 to 15:00: 00.

The municipality of Peristeri has completed the action at the exhibition center.

The municipality Saronic at City Hall in municipal Κατάστημα Αναβύσσου (Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου και Κρήτης), στις Κοινωνικές Δομές Καλυβίων (28ης Οκτωβρίου 24) και στις Κοινωνικές Δομές Αναβύσσου (25ης Μαρτίου & Ζαΐμη), daily from 08:00 to 16:00.

Municipality of Filothei-Psychiko: in the courtyard of the Hagia Sophia in Neo Psychiko, on Tuesday 8 March from 10:00 to 18:00.

Haidari Municipality at City Hall Social Service, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00.

The Municipality of Chalandri, in cooperation with the “Doctors of the World”, daily in the Central KEP (Γρ. Γυφτοπούλου & Α. Γκίνη), in the KEP of Kato Chalandri (Ιθώμης 34), in the KEP of Patimatos (Ηρακλείτου 141) and in the KEP near the metro station of Chalandri (Χαλανδρίου).

Solidarity extends to other support as well. Two municipalities in Attica will cooperate to help accept and resettle refugees from Ukraine. The municipality of Rafina-Pikermi has proposed that the camps in the Perivolakia district of the municipality of Zografou be used for refugees from Ukraine who will need housing and assistance for as long as necessary.

The municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupolis, in a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens, announced its intention to accept a number of families with children and provide them with everything necessary in a hostel, as well as, if necessary, in a hotel rented for these purposes.
