The municipality of Athens said Friday it will offer 1,200 holiday dinners every day – on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve – for the homeless and people living in homeless shelters run by the municipality or other social welfare agencies.
Each meal will include a main course, snacks, Christmas sweets and soft drinks.
The municipality also said it has distributed food, gifts for children and other basic necessities to thousands of families living in poverty, which have increased significantly in Greece in recent years.
