This morning, at about 6 am, an earthquake of 4.2 on the Richter scale shook Crete.
The epicenter, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, was located in the southwest of the island, in the prefecture of Chania, 37 km west of Paleochora. The source depth is estimated at 28.3 km.
Earthquake data from the Geodynamic Institute of Athens and the European Mediterranean Seismological Institute are decisions that are captured by an automated computer system, without the involvement of a seismologist. As new data arrives, they are constantly updated.
