Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on the West to respond to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama’s provocative statement on Kosovo, which implies unification, which the department considers unacceptable.

Zakharova notes that the plans to create a “Greater Albania” undermine stability, and it is extremely strange to hear the violation of the document fundamental to the Kosovo settlement as a goal from the head of one of the Balkan countries:
“Such flawed stuffing does not fit into the context of the joint efforts of Belgrade and Tirana to create a single market, which they are undertaking in the framework of the regional initiative“ Open Balkans ”jointly with Skopje. We count on an adequate reaction of the Western guardians of the project of Kosovo “statehood” to this blatant provocation. “
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added that it is strange for the West to allow such appeals, while the same states criticize Belgrade because of its “justified and not contrary to international law” concept of “Serbian peace”.
Nikolaos Tzifakis, an associate professor at the University of the Peloponnese, said earlier that neither Serbia nor Kosovo are seeking further escalation. The political scientist explained that a certain increase in tension is associated with the upcoming elections. He believes that their ruling elites are “flirting” with the nationalist sentiments of their populations in an attempt to boost their ratings.
