Oil prices rose almost 4% immediately after the Israeli attack on Iran, Syria and Iraq.
The price of a barrel of US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose 3.66% to $85.76, while the price of a barrel of Brent rose 3.44% to $90.11. Assets considered safe havens for investors also rose.
Spot gold prices soared to a new all-time high of $2,411.09 an ounce, while the yen strengthened 0.45% to 153.93 against the US dollar.
Iranian news agency Fars reported that explosions were heard near the airport in the Iranian city of Isfahan. Flight Radar 24, a flight tracking site, showed several flights were diverted through Iranian airspace early Friday.
