The woman was diagnosed with cancer. After severe chemotherapy, she was told that the doctors were mistaken

A 39-year-old mother of two from Texas in the US was diagnosed with cancer. She began undergoing harsh chemotherapy after doctors gave her only 15 months to live. However, it turned out that the doctors were mistaken, and the woman did not have cancer.

Lisa Monk was hospitalized in 2022 with terrible abdominal pain. Tests showed the presence of two kidney stones and a mass in the spleen, which were removed during a successful operation.

However, then things took a strange turn. The biopsy was sent first to three different laboratories and then to a fourth, where she was told she had a rare form of cancer that, despite treatment, was difficult to treat. Doctors gave her 15 months to live and she had to find a way to tell her family. She decided to tell them that the disease was serious and she would fight it. She then began a rather difficult and aggressive course of chemotherapy.

After the first, she lost all her hair, and the second caused frequent vomiting. And just as her optimism began to wane, a routine doctor's appointment in April revealed that the original diagnosis was wrong.

The doctor said she had never had cancer and apologized for the terrible mistake that had caused her to suffer so much. A year after the adventure, Monk and her family are still struggling with the mental, emotional and financial consequences of the medical error.
