Domestic violence: 141 incidents throughout Greece in 24 hours


Number of cases domestic violence in Greece growing exponentially. The ERT television channel notes that during the 24-hour period from April 8 to 9 alone, more than 100 incidents were recorded throughout the country.

The “explosion” in domestic violence is evidenced by the fact that yesterday 141 cases were opened across the country, 73 arrests were made, 28 of which were in Attica, and five victims asked to be left in a shelter.

According to police, about six women were victims of domestic violence every hour. Breakdown of complaints by region:

Also on Monday, a 49-year-old woman in the southern suburbs of Attica accused her husband of rape, threats and insults. A 46-year-old man was arrested and taken to the prosecutor's office.
