Domestic violence: 141 incidents and 74 arrests in 24 hours, five victims chose to stay at the crisis center

Over the past few days, dozens of cases of domestic violence have been recorded in Greece.

There were 141 reports of domestic violence on Tuesday alone, according to the report, with authorities making 73 arrests. At the same time, five victims of the attacks asked to stay in the dormitory of the crisis center. Here are just a few of the shocking incidents reported in Larissa, Kos and Thessaloniki.

Larisa: he abused her for at least a year

Early Tuesday morning, a 42-year-old woman of Bulgarian origin walked into the Larisa Domestic Violence Department to file a lawsuit against her 61-year-old ex-partner, who she claims has been abusing her for the past year. 5 months ago she had to be admitted to the Grevena hospital because her abuser punched her in the head. The police began to inform the woman about all the problems with her safety and the possibilities for her safe residence.

Kos: he pulled her by the hair and kicked her to get her out of the house

A 47-year-old woman reported her 44-year-old military husband, accusing him of constant threats and assault. The victim filed a lawsuit against her cohabitant; the serviceman is accused of domestic violence, threats and causing bodily harm.

Thessaloniki: a minor reported that his father abused his mother

A 50-year-old man was arrested in Thessaloniki after a telephone complaint from his 15-year-old son. The adolescent reported his father's abusive behavior toward both his mother and himself. After the child received a call from a family friend saying his mother was not feeling well, he called 100.

“I thought that dad had hit mom again, and immediately called 100. I was far away and thought I wouldn’t make it in time. I feel like I have to protect my mom. When I'm away from home, my thoughts are always there,” the juvenile told police, expressing his desire for his father to leave the house “so we can calm down.” The 44-year-old mother will be given a panic button, but, according to her, she does not want her husband to be prosecuted.
