TalentVisa and TechVisa in Greece – who are the new visas for?


The Greek Ministry of Immigration announced the imminent availability of new types of visas – TalentVisa and TechVisa.

These are two new types of permits for immigrants to access the labor market. The purpose of their application is to transform Greece into an international academic, research and investment center. The innovation is presented in a bill from the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, which was submitted to parliament by Minister Dimitris Kairidis.

He is convinced that legal immigration, subject to certain conditions and rules, is a strategic priority of the Ministry, which is taking the necessary steps to make this possible. For example, it is modernizing the administrative mechanism to be able to quickly and reliably process an increase in requests for callbacks, new residence permits and renewals of old permits.

Requirements for obtaining a Talent Visa

The Talent Visa is a one-year entry visa for talented graduates from recognized universities abroad. The new visa will allow them to enter Greece for a period of one year. To receive this document, the interested person does not need to have an offer from an employer; he or she can look for a job while in TalentVisa mode. Receiving it open to university graduates from all countriesnon-EU, and is intended for highly skilled immigrants who are ready to excel in their field and want to contribute to the Greek economy.

The applicant must also prove that he can support himself financially upon arrival in Greece, without relying on government funds and has sufficient funds on the date of application. He has the right to bring his dependents with him, provided he can support them financially.

The purpose of the new visa is to attract graduates to Greece, who will have the opportunity for one year to get acquainted with the country, culture, explore Europe and the economic opportunities available. After receiving a job opportunity while the visa is valid, they can switch to one of the other work visas/residence permits offered by the Greek state.
