When will the unemployed be paid benefits and Easter gifts?

Greek Labor Exchange DYPA will pay this year benefits and Easter holidays unemployed a week before Holy Week.

In particular from April 22 to 26 the payment of the 2024 Easter “doro” and the advance payment of regular unemployment benefits, benefits for the long-term unemployed, unemployment benefits for the self-employed and self-employed, as well as a special maternity benefit are expected. Advance payments will be made automatically through direct deposit into recipients' bank accounts. For the unemployed, the Easter payment is equal to half the monthly amount of unemployment benefits and is provided in full only if they received benefits during the entire period from January 1 to April 30.

No later than Holy Wednesday, that is 1st of May, workers will see the 2024 Easter payments in their bank accounts. However, employers have the option to list them earlier. For 600,000 employees, the Easter gift will be increased thanks to raising the minimum wage from 780 euros to 830 euros.

For example, someone who currently receives a minimum salary of 780 euros will receive Easter payment at the rate of 406.25 euros. With the new promotion he will receive Easter payment in the amount of 432.29 euros. Easter “doro” calculated based on the regular salary paid on the 15th day before Easter, if it is equal to or higher than that established by law. Thus, these incomes will increase by 6.4% due to the increase in the minimum wage.
