"Easter basket" will appear on shelves from mid-April, what will it include

The Easter Basket will hit store shelves a couple of weeks before the holidays. Let us remind you that Easter is celebrated in Greece on May 5 this year.

According to Development Minister Kostas Skrekas, Wednesday, April 24 is considered a possible date, but this will be confirmed by a decision of the authorities. There will be no changes to the Easter basket, which last year included lamb, goat meat, buns (chureki), and chocolate eggs.

At the same time, the minister did not rule out the existence of a “Godparents Basket” (a measure successfully implemented in 2023), saying, however, that “first we will talk with manufacturers and suppliers” to determine whether this can be implemented this year.

Asked about the implementation of anti-inflation measures and misleading discounts, he noted that “our radical interventions in the trade market and continued intensive controls begin to produce results for the benefit of all households” He also added that efforts are focused on consumer protection from misleading and unfair commercial practices, etc.

The minister also noted that in the coming days the e-katanalotis platform will be updated: it is “a powerful tool that will allow the consumer to buy products cheaper in stores located close to home,” and added: “The goal is the sustainable development of the country, so that almost all citizens are supported. The efforts we make in this direction are ongoing daily and continuously.”
