Bloomberg: Putin’s inner circle reports that there is no evidence of Ukraine’s involvement in the terrorist attack in the Moscow region

Bloomberg writes that some of the Russian president’s inner circle do not agree with his theses about Ukraine’s possible involvement in the March 22 terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.

The publication cites four sources close to the Kremlin who claim that there is no evidence of Ukrainian involvement in the shooting. Despite this, notes Bloomberg, the Russian leader is determined to use the terrorist attack to try to rally the country's citizens around the war in Ukraine.

According to Bloomberg, Kremlin officials are shocked by the inability of security services to prevent attacks on people. However, Putin’s main allies willingly support his thesis. The President, according to the publication, can use this to announce another wave of mobilization in the Russian Federation and not only.

Let us remind you that on March 22 in the evening in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, in the Crocus City Hall concert hall, there was a shooting during the concert of the group “Picnic”. According to preliminary data, 139 people died.

Terrorist group “Islamic State” called a terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall in the Moscow region with her “most brutal attack in recent years” and published photos of terrorists whose clothes matched the clothes of the detainees, whose photos were published by the FSB.

Meanwhile, Russian security forces accused Kyiv of facilitating the terrorist attack in Crocus, writes dw. The head of the Russian FSB Bortnikov said on March 26 that the Ukrainian special services facilitated the terrorist attack and called the SBU a terrorist organization.

Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev statedthat Ukraine is involved in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. When asked who, in his opinion, organized this crime, Kyiv or the Islamic State, he replied that Ukraine was to blame.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that until the end of the investigation, the authorities cannot afford to make statements regarding the connection of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall with Ukraine. During a conversation with journalists on March 26, Peskov was asked whether the Kremlin admits that the Islamists who committed the terrorist attack could be somehow connected with the Ukrainian leadership. He replied:

“As for whether it is possible to say “one way or another,” you can say it any way you like. And observers and analysts can probably afford this. But while the investigation is underway, the official authorities cannot afford to make any statements on this matter. Although I recommend that you re-read it very carefully statements by President Putin, which he did in the last two days. In this context they are very important.”

Government in Kyiv denies any involvement in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. At the same time, the Afghan branch of the Islamic State group, Vilayat Khorasan, has repeatedly stated that it takes responsibility for this attack. Western countries, including the USA, Great Britain and Germany, stated from the very beginning that Ukraine had nothing to do with the Crocus terrorist attack.
