Massive strike throughout Ukraine: what is known at the moment (added)


The Russian Federation subjected Ukraine to massive night shelling. Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lvov, Dnepr, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia region and other cities and regions were attacked.

On the night and morning of March 22, the Russian invaders launched cruise missiles towards Ukraine from the Caspian Sea region; in Kyiv and in all regions they declared a large-scale air raid alert that lasted almost 4 hours.

Ukrainian Air Force reports

Launches of cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft were recorded. Cruise missile launches were recorded from the Caspian Sea region. Estimated time of entry into Ukrainian airspace is approximately 05.00.

Consequences of the attack

Kharkiv. 15 strikes on the power system, fires broke out at the landing sites. Almost a blackout in the city, problems with the Internet, water and heat. Electric transport was not available on the routes. Arrivals in the region.

Zaporozhye. 12 missile strikes. There is damage to infrastructure facilities. 7 houses were completely destroyed, 35 were damaged. There are people injured. The road in the Dneproges area is blocked. Russia launched a missile attack on its dam. They are trying to blow it up the same way they blew up the Kakhovskaya dam in order to destroy the reservoir, cause a disaster and kill more civilians. At the moment of the impact, a trolleybus with people was passing along the dam; it came under fire and burned down. The number of deaths has not yet been announced.

Head of the Zaporizhzhya OVA Ivan Fedorov: “From 4 in the morning the enemy began to strike at civilian infrastructure. They were targeting critical infrastructure, which has nothing to do with the military, which ensures the livelihoods of our residents. One of such objects is our Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station. Now traffic through the dam is blocked . Part of the critical infrastructure was damaged. Rescuers are working both on the territory of the DneproGES and at other energy facilities. More detailed information will be available a little later. At the time of the attack, both trolleybuses and private cars were moving at the DneproGES. Unfortunately, there were casualties. About the dead We don’t have any information yet. Regarding the victims, there are dozens of people. 7 houses were destroyed, 35 were damaged, there were casualties. In total, 327 strikes were carried out across the region in 12 settlements over the past 24 hours.”

Ukrhydroenergo confirms the attack on the Dnieper hydroelectric power station. It is alleged that hydraulic structures and a dam were attacked. There is no threat of dam failure:
“The fire at the station continues. Emergency services and energy workers are working on the spot, overcoming the consequences of numerous airstrikes. There is no threat of a breakthrough. The situation at the station dam is under control.”

Lviv and Vinnytsia region

Hit a critical infrastructure facility in the Vinnytsia region and an energy infrastructure facility in the Lviv region. Head of the Vinnitsa OVA Sergei Borzov Telegram: “The enemy used hybrid tactics of UAVs and cruise missiles. There is a hit on a critical infrastructure facility.”

Head of the Lviv Regional Police Department Kozitsky: “During an air raid, the occupiers’ drone hit an energy infrastructure facility in the Stryi region. A fire started. Now firefighters are extinguishing it. So far, there has been no information about casualties. In the Zolochiv district of the Lviv region, a fire is raging in a forest area. Preliminarily, from a fall wreckage of the Shahed, which was shot down by air defense forces.”

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said on Facebook that the Russian attack on the night of March 22 was aimed at the Ukrainian energy sector and was the largest in recent times:

“Now the enemy is carrying out the largest attack on the Ukrainian energy sector in recent times. The goal is not just to damage, but to try again, like last year, to cause a large-scale failure in the country’s energy system.”

According to him, unfortunately, there are hits and damage to generation facilities, transmission and distribution systems in various areas. In addition, due to the shelling, one of the power lines supplying the Zaporizhia NPP was de-energized. In some regions there are power outages: “Energy workers are already working to restore power supply. We are doing everything possible to return power to people as quickly as possible.”
